  • Review of contractor and vendor payments for the year
  • Preparation of Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC

How it works

1. Gather W-9s

We collect and track W-9s from every contractor and vendor who needs one, so payee names, addresses, and tax IDs are correct before anything is filed.

2. Review payments

We review your books for the year and confirm which payments are reportable and on which form — NEC for contractor compensation, MISC for rent, royalties, and other payments.

3. Prepare and e-file

We prepare the forms, confirm totals with you, then e-file with the IRS and deliver recipient copies before the January 31 deadline.

When this is a good fit

  • You paid contractors, freelancers, or vendors $600 or more this year
  • You are missing W-9s and January is approaching fast
  • You want filing handled correctly instead of guessing at IRS rules

Common questions

Who needs a 1099?
Generally, businesses that paid $600 or more during the year to a non-employee — contractors, freelancers, attorneys, landlords, and certain vendors. Payments to corporations are usually excluded, with exceptions such as attorney fees. When in doubt, send us the payment list and we will sort it out.
What is the difference between 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC?
Form 1099-NEC reports nonemployee compensation — what you paid independent contractors and freelancers. Form 1099-MISC reports other payments such as rent, royalties, prizes, and medical payments. We determine the right form for each payee.
When are 1099s due?
Recipient copies and IRS filing for 1099-NEC are due January 31. For 1099-MISC, recipient copies are due January 31 (February 15 for certain boxes) with IRS filing to follow. Start in December — missing W-9s are the number-one cause of late filings.
What if I am missing W-9s?
That is the most common situation we see. We chase down missing W-9s for you and track who has and has not responded, so January does not turn into a scramble.
Do you handle corrections?
Yes. If a name, tax ID, or amount turns out to be wrong after filing, we prepare and file the corrected form.
I am a contractor who received a 1099. Can you help me?
Yes — bring it to us. We keep your books clean through the year and coordinate with your tax preparer so the income on your 1099s matches your records.

Start before the rush

The earlier we start, the smoother January goes. Tell us how many contractors and vendors you paid this year and we will take it from there.
